Dethleffs are one of the largest and longest established manufacturers of leisure vehicles in Europe.
Based in Germany, the firm have been building family caravans for over 75 years. Number one in Scandinavia and Germany for motorhomes, Dethleffs also produce a range of caravans and the UK has quietly been growing its own devoted fanbase for these well built, versatile tourers.
History
Arist Dethleffs built his first recreational vehicle in 1931 so that he could take his family with him on business trips. The company’s focus has been fixed on designing family oriented vehicles ever since.
The first production line of caravans began in 1956 with the ‘Camper’ range, and expanded to include five more model ranges over the next decade. After exponential growth, new manufacturing facilities and the advent of the motorhome, Dethleffs have established themselves as market leaders of leisure vehicle production.
As a result of the family caravan development project, Dethleffs introduced their new AERO Style range which was launched in the UK in 2009. to accompany the compact Campy marquee.
UK ranges
The family focussed AERO range and the diminutive, quirky Campy range are currently available to buy new in the UK.
The AERO Style has an innovative curved nose cone improving the aerodynamics making it easier to tow. The interior is spacious with headroom of up to 2.12m and comes in a choice of four external gaphic options.
The Aero TK models were given a new designated kids area with large L-shaped dinette and a large storage cupboard. Practical detachable storage baskets can be loaded at home before being transferred into the cabin.
The design conscious Campy range is lightweight and stylish with basic facilities, geared towards younger caravanners looking for a no frills, easy to tow trailer.
