Anglesey politician hits election trail in caravan

An election candidate is touring Anglesey in a caravan while campaigning

An election candidate in Anglesey has taken an unusual approach to campaigning by getting in a caravan to travel around the area.

Jeff Evans, a former Holyhead mayor, explained that the decision was made because the Anglesey ward is so big.

Delayed council elections are due to take place on the island in May but boundary changes have meant there is a raft of new members which are spread across a much wider area.

Mr Evans hit the road in his touring caravan to meet as many residents as possible in the newly created Ynys Gybi area which reaches as far as Rhoscolyn.

The distance between the capital Holyhead and the far reaching parts of the island go as far as six miles.

“The ward covers quite an area from Kingsland and Maeshyfryd in Holyhead to Four Mile Bridge and Rhoscolyn. Because of the sheer size of the ward I have decided to give people the best chance to meet me by using a touring caravan to go around,” Mr Evans explained to the Daily Post.
