The mystery shopper, you either love them or hate them. Either way there is no denying that their job does the very best it can at providing impartial and accurate feedback about a product, service or company. For one lucky park they have had the best type of mystery shopper feedback there is, it has even lead them to an award shortlist.

Devon’s Ladram Bay holiday park was helped this summer by a visit from a mystery staycationer. Now the park is on its way to potentially winning gold, silver or bronze at the county’s annual tourism awards in November.

The mystery shopper who visited Ladram Bay was actually an undercover inspector who was carry out one of the crucial judges stages of the Devon Tourism Awards. The visit was one of the 120 that was made to business by the county judges helping to shave down the entries to just three per category. So you can see that the cream of the crop made the shortlist.

Ladram Bay is no stranger to awards nominations, this is the third year in a row that the site has made the nomination stages of Holiday Park of the Year category.

Speaking with Director Zoe House, a member of the park-owning family, said that everyone at Ladram Bay had a special reason for crossing their fingers and toes in an effort to bag the gold top spot.

“In 2018 we are celebrating our seventy-fifth anniversary of the park’s formation, and it would be wonderful to start the year with such an accolade!” she said.

“But even to feature among the top three parks in Devon is an excellent achievement to which we owe a great debt of honour to our fantastic staff.

“An important criterion for these awards is the standard of hospitality which guests receive, and responsibility for delivering this is very much down to our park team,” added Zoe.

Ladram Bay originally started as a small cliff side resort with private beach access. Now it has grown into one of Devon’s largest and most celebrated parks.

Their verdicts on who takes the top spots will be delivered at a VIP awards ceremony at Plymouth’s Guildhall on 23 November.
